In this episode, Patrick welcomes author James B. Bolen, PhD. James is a former US Marine who, after studying criminal justice at the University of Illinois embarked on a highly decorated fifteen-year career with the Chicago Police Department. After his dedicated service and years of behind the scenes observation of the criminal justice system,  he wrote “Fixing This Broken Thing..The American Criminal Justice System.” The book is a compelling argument against the status quo of overburdened courts, overcrowded jails, and persistent socioeconomic and gender inequality under the law.

Patrick and James have a great conversation, and James offers some suggestions on how to fix some of the problems in the system – for the rest you have to check out his book here.
